The Mineral County 4H Shooting Sports Rifle team has been practicing for the last couple weeks. We have three upcoming events that we’re getting ready for – The Army Postal, the first round of the American Legion Postal, and the State CMP Match.
The Army Postal will qualify shooters for the Army Nationals Match in Fort Benning GA. The State CMP Match qualifies them for the CMP Regionals match in Sandy, UT. The American Legion qualifies the shooter for the 2nd round postal and the top 15 shooters in the nation qualify to shoot at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs CO – all expenses paid.
We also have, at last count, 6 new shooters that will be starting on November 8th. They will start out with approximately 4-6 weeks of safety and position training prior to being allowed to shoot. Typical practice time is every Wednesday at 6:30 – 8:30. This will vary a little to match all the shooters schedules. As we get closer to the 4H matches, in January, we will probably add another day as needed/requested. We’re excited to see all the younger shooters getting involved.
